DRAGONS' STAR CELEBRATES FIFTH ANNIVERSARY
------------------------------------------

We at the Stargazer would like to extend our warm congratulations to the
entire Dragon Quadrant for five years of unrivalled success and
prosperity. It's hard to believe that it has only been five years since
the first civilized colonies sprouted in the lovely and diverse Dragon
Quadrant.

"From humble beginnings, we have created a center of commerce and
adventure that rivals any in the Galaxy if not the Universe itself,"
remarked TriTeq industries CEO, Infoteq. TriTeq has sponsored much of the
month-long celebration surrounding the anniversary that has been taking
place all over the quadrant. Some highlights have included a festival of
lights on SDO, the Taste of RDO food carnival, and an exclusive concert by
Yyvette Quoth at the Arma Music Hall followed by a black tie gala that was
attended by luminaries such as the lovely Ferna Moy, comedian
extraordinaire Brak Masters, and various high-ranking TriTeq executives.

Still to come is the much-anticipated reading of Dragon Quadrant-inspired
poetry and short stories by local authors at the Dragon University Lazzo
Hall and a round-table discussion on the next five years led by Baylan
Sage at the Aquarius Lounge. Ongoing events include the Great 5th
Anniversary Treasure Hunt. Sponsored by various local businesses and
underwritten by the ubiquitous TriTeq, this hunt has adventurers of all
kinds combing the Galaxy for pieces of a mysterious puzzle representing
the Dragon Quadrant. The top prizes are rumored to be truly staggering.
Citizens of the Dragon Quadrant have also taken it upon themselves to
celebrate in their own unique ways. Sales of party supplies and liquor
have hit an all-time high according to Franco D'Lan, proprietor of
Franco's Fete, who says, "It's great for business and everyone is really
proud of our collective accomplishment. Here in Dragon Quadrant, I have
found the freedom to be an entrepreneur. Life here has been very good to
me and my family. Go Dragon Quadrant!"

While parties abound, some residents have taken this time to quietly
reflect on the past, present and future of the Dragon Quadrant. "Folks
have been losing sight of some of the more pressing matters at hand for
all citizens. These are times of great unrest for us all and we must
persevere in righting the wrongs around us," remarked Baylan Sage.
"Drauynshar are slinking around every corner and the bodies are piling
up while TriTeq Industries continues as normal." Unfortunately, our
communication with Baylan was cut short by some sort of meteoric
interference, but it was clear that not everyone was taking part in the
celebration.

For the most part, however, citizens of the Dragon Quadrant have united
in a celebration of cheer for one and all. Crime is down and, the Chief
of Security for SDO, Captain Hartero Kwasnye, whose stations have been
unusually quiet all month, says, "I really want to thank the citizens of
SDO for taking special care in living safely and responsibly. I am told
that other stations are experiencing the same slowdown in petty and
violent crimes. I can only hope this continues on long after the
Anniversary celebration has come to an official close. Only through
peace, can we hope to continue on to see anniversaries extending into
the next century and beyond."

We couldn't have said it better ourselves. From our family to yours, have
a safe and happy Anniversary.

Strange Sacrifices Worry Experts
--------------------------------

Recent expeditions of the Minoricean system have turned up some rather
disturbing finds. Three separate sacrificial sites have been discovered
in the asteroids surrounding Kyrin Moor. Believing the sites to be further
evidence of typical Drauynshar antics, noted expert Amkar Krishnov was
notified and asked to lead a team of Spaetor to the sites to investigate
their meaning. The news Krishnov brought back was disturbing indeed.

"My team of Spaetor, sensitive to the use of magic of the
Offensive Sphere, noted 'high level of offmagic residual
radiation' around the various sites. Based on the prior
complaints of members of the Drauynshar cult about the relative
ineffectiveness of offensive magic in their murders, I can
only conclude that these sacrifices are some attempt to appeal
to the Stone Dragons to grant them more power for their
     spells."

This hypothesis seems to be supported by a comment made by Padan Fain,
Commander of the 1SOG Strike Force, who boasted of being able to "finish
[name censored to protect victim] with Razor Wind." If this is true,
further investigations will be needed to determine whether protective
measures will be necessary to protect innocent victims from the fate of
those found at the sacrificial sites. Currently, several Khrenesch are
being interviewed as to whether they have noticed any perceptible
difference in the power of their spells. Officials have declined to
comment on what the responses have been thus far.

New System Stops Aging Cold
---------------------------

Bounce, Inc., makers of the famous Everlast system, has introduced a new
service to the Dragon Quadrant that is perfect for those residents who feel
the need to REALLY get away from it all. Introducing, Freeze, Inc.
Freeze, Inc. provides a service that will, over the process of two
[mud-] years, will slow down your metabolic processes to such a degree
that any aging after those first two years is so small as to be negligible.

When asked about the core group of users that this new service would
service, a Bounce, Inc. spokesman responded, "Well, there are two groups
actually. The first is those people who, for some reason or anything just
feel like they need to take a break from the doldrums of day to day life,
but do not want to waste the precious amount of time that they are granted
for this existence. The second is for those people who might suddenly find
the need to, uh, become scarce."

Those who might be interested in the service should take 100,000 credits to
Freeze, Inc, located in the southwest corner of the UDA Spaceport. Those
who chose to use the service can them simply rent out there, and they will
be placed into one of the clinics comfortable cubicles. Company officials
are quick to note however, that any "deep sleeps" of less than two years
will be ineffective.

Also, the company assumes no liability if the service is interrupted by no
fault of their own.

Shooting Star Longevity Program Launches
----------------------------------------

Older residents of the Dragon Quadrant whispered a breath of relief today
when TriTeq Industries announced its new "Shooting Star Longevity Program".
Bernard Heldigel, TriTeq Chief of Public Relations, held a news conference
today to answer questions about the commencement of the controversial
program. "We will continue to do as much as we can to keep the experience
of our citizens' twilight years a pleasant one."

TriTeq claims it has devised a way to extend the productive lives of aging
adventurers, citizens and its employees alike. "Normally, a body begins
to deteriorate at a certain age. You can slow the reaction, but never halt
it. We have simply designed a non-intrusive way of slowing down the
reaction by up to nearly 50%," claims Heldigel.

Some members of an objective panel of leading researchers appointed to
approve the process on behalf of the government have raised some
dissenting viewpoints on the effectiveness and safety of the process. "We
remain concerned about the impact of such a procedure. TriTeq claims it is
harmless and easy, but what are the real ramifications of performing such
an alteration of our fundamental being?" asked Professor Ravi Q'Din at a
news conference Monday. Most of the researchers agree, however, that the
operation is safe and the public is ready for it.

Enrollment in the program is automatic and free of charge for all Dragon
Quadrant citizens. The required elements in the process will be added to
the already enhanced air and water supply of all TriTeq stations and
buildings. "How could we charge for something that could so profoundly
improve the lives of everyone in the Quadrant?" remarked Heldigel.
TriTeq urges all citizens to enjoy the benefits and to seek free medical
advice in the event of any side effects at any TriTeq health center.

New Gaming System is SHARP!
---------------------------

The newly formed SHARP (Simulated Holographic Action Role-Playing)
company released its first offering in the high-interaction Sim arena
today. Billed as a "revolution in dynamic holographic systems", the
simulation titled "Mystery of the Maltese Dragon" purports to bring
life-like behavior to its synthetic characters.

"The key is in our newly patented character ID chip," said SHARP
spokesman Felix. "By identifying the central player-character to our
gaming system, we can better control how the simulation reacts to that
person's presence," he said, "and of course, if the players like it,
this will be the first chapter in a continuing interactive story."
The data sheet on the game lists it as expert level 25+.
Asked to comment on this new technology, infamous hacker IC Breaker
said, "I'm gonna check it for rpi's; it looks clean but it sure eats
a lot more cycles than anything else S'methena has installed."

Crimson Chrysanthemum Blooms Again
----------------------------------

The Crimson Chrysanthemum re-opened today, in a new location on Ruby
Dragon Outpost. Said the doorman at the re-opening ceremony, "The Crimson
Chrysanthemum offers three distinct venues: our business lounge, ideal for
relaxation or discussing a business proposition privately and comfortably;
the dance club, with a large, open dance floor and our own live DJ; and
the bar, a popular hangout where our expert bartending staff offer a
variety of drinks."

The Crimson Chrysanthemum is open on the south side of the transportation
level, across from the simulation suites, in the area formerly occupied by
the RDO Library. [Editor's Comment: Any young adventurer's thinking to
try to make trouble in The Crimson Chrysanthemum should be aware of the
very large, and very strong, bouncers that tend to show up at just the
wrong time.]

Guild Council Updates Computer System
-------------------------------------

Wyrnari everywhere rejoiced the announcement that the Guild Council had
finally updated their computer systems. The new computers will
continuously keep track of all points accumulated by guild members and, on
the first day of an even numbered year, guild rankings will be figured
automatically, negating the need for Guild Council members to print off
reports and figure rankings by hand. This greatly pleased Wyrnari heroes,
as they are no longer dependant upon the sometimes-late-to-respond Council
to award their new ranks.
